Artist's Comments

*special edit*
many of you have suggested that I self publish this book. I have taken your suggestions and it is now available on lulu. [link]

--original post--

this is my latest completed children's book.
so far it has received several rejections.
unfortunately I got a little discouraged
and shelved it. I really like the story
so I need to dust it off and start
resubmitting it. because I am
. . . . . . . . a tough little guy.

--2/23/07--
I was suprised today to see that "tough little guy" was a daily deviation. it was a lift to my spirits and I plan to thank everyone for their kind comments, favs, and watches. the uplifting words of my contemporaries means more than even I can currently comprehend.

thank you and you and you and most especially YOU.

--3/21/07--
so I sent my "tough little guy" book out to a publisher.
thank you friends for your support and motivation.
as friends so often do, I have ANOTHER favor to
ask. would you, could you, write the publisher
and let them know your good feelings for
this story? I'm sure it would help a lot.

the address is:

Dial Books for Young Readers
attn: Dial Design
345 Hudson Street
New York, New York 10014-3657

somewhere on the envelope it would be awesome if you could write:
IN REGARDS TO KIT ALLEN'S "TOUGH GUYS" BOOK!

(currently there is some waffling on the final name - Dial knows it as "tough guys" but I am still fond of "tough little guy" and refer to it that way here on DA)

I can't offer anything in return except that if this book does get published you can say you were an influencing factor.

thanks,

kit.

I heard back from dial publishing.
tough little guys has been rejected once more.
the coolest thing about this rejection is that it came with letters from all over the world: poland, australia, england, etc. thank you for EVERYONE that mailed a letter to the publisher and offered your support.

--10/09/07--
almost six months since my last edit. I've submitted it to two more publishers, it has been rejected two more times.

I do appreciate all the comments I still get about it here on deviantart. It makes me happy people are connecting with it.

--09/20/09--
been awhile for an update. book has been revamped at lulu.com, looks wonderful, and has been sent a couple more times to publishers. My wife told me to send it to chronicle in san fran and so I did a few months back . . no word.

Let's look back and reminisce, to when we use to cry over broken crayons... instead of broken hearts
:iconkittyvane:
I just want you to know that this made me cry. In a good way.

Please, please, please try and get this published!
:iconkitskids:
oh, your comment made me cry!
(well not bawl - but tear up . . I am a tough little guy after all)
I have been an emotional wreck as of late and it was nice that you had the type of reaction to my story that I was hoping people would have.
It is hard when you are trying to commercialize yourself and just keep hearing, "well this won't make us money" and you are like "I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE MONEY! I just care about the audience!" and the business people respond with, "well WE create the audience and without financial results you won't have an audience."
That is why I like DA so much - straight from the artist to the people who like what you do the most.
